Meet Dr. Sharon Ng-Yow

Sharon Ng-Yow, O.D., received her Doctor of Optometry from SUNY College of Optometry in 1982. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Boston College in 1978. Dr. Ng-Yow's journey into optometry began at a very young age, inspired by her aunt, a British-trained optometrist who practiced in Guyana, South America. It was rare at the time to see women in the profession, and Dr. Ng-Yow fondly recalls following her aunt as she examined patients and crafted lenses, igniting her own passion for optometry. Dr. Ng-Yow has now been practicing optometry for over 34 years.

As a dedicated optometrist, Dr. Ng-Yow enjoys building strong connections with her patients. She believes in taking the time to listen and understand their needs, whether it’s providing a new prescription or explaining conditions like dry eyes, cataracts, or diabetes. Her goal is to ensure her patients leave with a clearer understanding of their eye health.

Outside of work, Dr. Ng-Yow enjoys ballroom dancing, which she finds to be a fun way to stay active in a social setting. She also loves spending time reading and relaxing on the beach. However, much of her free time is now joyfully spent with her two toddler grandchildren, and she cherishes rocking her newest grandchild, Adeline, to sleep.
